Description
“Doomsday Vault” Game Device – an atmospheric device for scenario games styled on Fallout, Doomsday and similar. It was first used in a scenario game at the 2019 “May Manoeuvres” International Laser Tag Festival, and participants loved it so much that LASERWAR put it into mass production.
“Doomsday Vault” is an electronic metal-and-plastic safe holding a flask of notionally radioactive (or biohazardous) material. According to the scenario, the flask must be extracted and delivered.
To open the vault, players must crack the digital combination lock. Cracking starts when a tagger shot hits the vault’s sensor. By default each digit takes 2 minutes, after which it appears on the display and the player can shoot again to start decoding the next digit.
If the enemy also tries to take the prize and hits the sensor, a new decoding cycle starts and resets their opponent’s code. So to crack a 6-digit code at 2 minutes per digit (the defaults), a team must capture and hold the “Vault” for 12 minutes.
The code is entered on the keypad and shown on the OLED display. The magnetic lock releases and the vault door opens. Players can take the flask of “radioactive material”, which, once outside the vault, starts crackling like a Geiger counter and emitting radiation pulses. A player who stays close to the flask too long risks their game “health”.
Damage: 10 health points per minute.
The flask must then be delivered to its destination, depending on the scenario.
The flask can also be used on its own as an artefact – a radiation source.
Our developers keep expanding the devices’ scenario possibilities. “Radioactive” flasks can already be used for mining, as energy sources or for decontamination – limited only by the organisers’ imagination.
